Elvish had reported receiving WhatsApp messages demanding sums of ₹40 lakh and later ₹1 crore, prompting him to file a case. Police swiftly investigated the matter, leading to the arrest of the suspect.

Speaking about the arrest, ACP Crime Branch, Varun Dahiya, stated, “Gurugram Police, with cooperation from Gujarat Police, has arrested Shakir Makrani, a resident of Vadnagar. He was influenced by Yadav; to earn money, he made this plan to make extortion calls.” The motive behind the extortion was linked to the suspect’s desire for financial gain, influenced by Elvish Yadav’s popularity.

Regarding Elvish Yadav’s safety, ACP Dahiya assured, “Gurugram Police will be coordinating with him in connection with the matter,” indicating the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and cooperation of the YouTube celebrity during the investigation.
